Writer's Block: The Right to Privacy

Should some parts of celebrities' lives be off-limits to the public, or is giving up privacy a fair price for being famous?

Celebrities have just as many rights as anyone. I believe that unless they directly give the press permission and material (Peter and Jordan, for instance) they should be left alone. If lies were told about normal people they'd try and sue, actors/musicians are just doing their jobs, they ARE normal people and should be treated as such.

They're not GODS or Terminator for fucks sake!

Tea?

As the old saying goes, one person's trash is another person's treasure. What's the best thing—chairs, roller skates, old electronics—you've ever found that someone else had thrown away?

Hmm...I kinda collect records. I know that's weird since I'm only seventeen and I don't have a record player but....guh, I love the look of them.

Anyway I was in Canada with my family and we came across this antique market. Oh Lord it was beautiful, not all of it was in great condition and was being sold for a pittance, so I spent about an hour and a half just wondering around this giant, GORGEOUS market. In the end I bought a couple of old records, one being a Blondie record (:D) and another few kinck knacks. It's hard to say what the best thing is because I also spent two hours in "Beyond Retro" Numerous charity and thrift shops and also little plasticy trinkets like Barbie accersories which I've made into jewelery since.

I love looking for things like that- you always end up with such original stuff! ^^

26-year-old actor Matt Smith was anointed as the eleventh Doctor Who this week. If you were in charge of casting, who would you cast as your ideal Doctor and why?

Hospital dramas are a time-honored staple of television, from General Hospital to County General to Seattle Grace. Which TV hospital would you most want to check in to? And who would be your doctor?

Should church and state always be separate? Why or why not? What should the nature of their relationship be?

View 500 Answers

YES!
They should be completely seperate, not that they ARE, but the SHOULD be.
Goverment is supposed to represent the people, but if they have a relgion then they are only representing some of the people and that is not fair. Now that most of our countries have many different cultures inhabiting them we need to learn from them and edit our ways to accomodate everyone.

What words do you find wise enough to live by?

"I do not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it." Martin Luther King.

This is pretty much the quote I live by, that and Admiral Ackbar's "It's a trap!"

If you could go back and fix your most regrettable decision, what would it be, and what would you do differently?

Pirates or Ninjas?

Have you ever named or befriended an inanimate object? What did you call it?

My computer was called Gunter but he sadly got computer-cancer (Hard Drive failure) and died. I grieved for a while before getting my Mum's laptop which is old and slow, so I have named him Ol' Cappn.'

I also have a cyberman action figure called Murray, I call my djembe Rainbow Jack and my guitar is called Alphaba, although I haven't played her in a while, I'm self taught so I need to start practicing again soon. Oh and my lamp is called Maurice.

.....I'm insane, yes, why do you ask?

Tell us your current favorite: book, movie, CD, video game.

Book

Hard one, I love loads of different books, ones by Douglas Adamas, Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. I also Love most of the Doctor Who novels.

At the moment though, I'm really into manga. And Death Note is definatly one of my favourites!

Movie

I love movies, I think they're an amazing way to experience a story, if a movie is done well, you feel as though you're there, you can feel the emotion, sense the world around you. I love the Lord Of The Rings and Pirates Of The Caribbean trilogies. But I also love Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. It really does depend on my mood. For instance if I'm sleepy and weepy I just watch 'My Neighbour Totoro' or 'The Incredibles' (Love Edna), If I'm in the mood for a violent sort of humour, I'll watch a Simon Pegg film (Though NOT Run, Fatboy, Run) or if I'm with friends and we feel like having a marethon I'll switch of LOTR or Pirates.

But I guess, at the moment, the film mainly on my mind is Pixars' 'Meet the Robinsons.' Gorgeous art, cute characters and hilarious sense of humour.

CD

At the moment, 'The Beatles: Love.' But it changes from Bowie to Queen.

Video Game

Half Life, the whole series. It's just SO amazing. Gripping storyline, fantastic gameplay, great sense of humour and characters I actually care about. I'm not gonna say anything, but at the end of Episode 2, I was crying my eyes out.

I also Love Portal! Fantastic dry sense of humour. I will steal the game from my brother.

I've also just started playing Bioshock alongside my Brother (No way in hell am I playing that thing alone-he feels the same way) Scariest fucking beginning you ever will exerience. Seriously. *Shudders*

Of Course I love all those story line laden, character building games, dripping with drama and spine chillinghappenings, but I also love Nintendo. Lol.

Seriously though, DS and Wii, I love thee!

If you've ever read Penny Arcade, I'm kinda a mix between Tycho and Gabe....mainly Gabe though. xD

I love MySims...no, actually, I hate it, it's maddening and irritating and their cute little faces make you want to strangle them after a while, but it's so damn addictive...and their so ....damn....cute......

GYAH!

Anyway....I love most Zelda games too, although they're repetative and all have exactly the same storyline. But then again, it IS Nintendo.....

How would you describe your personal style?

Um....

I guess everyone is unique in their own way, however I'm one of those maddenly annoying people that has to wear clothes that blind old people and defy christianity.

Tacky plastic jewelry, bright coloured clothing, patterns and layering appeal very much to me, but sometimes I love wearing velvets and old, chunky jewelry, and then SOMETIMES I dress in black and and wear lace gloves with my Gran's old Pearl earrings.

My room kinda reflects the fact I'm totally inconsistant. xD

I love statues of Buddha. I have a small model of him surrounded by insense holders and candles on my windowsill. I feel peaceful when I look at it.

My dresser which is really old with rusty-gold coloured handles and a big mirror suspended above it. The mirror is surrounded by fashion cut outs from magazines and nintendo stickers which kind of trickle onto the wall around it. There are posters everywhere (Doctor Who, John Lennon, Friends, Nightmare before Christmas, Pirates of the carribean and Gorillaz).
Lots of books, CDs, LP records (well only two of them), DVDs and sction figures on the shelves and fairy lights everywhere.

It's an organised mess most of the time.

To conclude my little ramble I'd have to finish by saying I don't have a defined style, maybe I will in time but I enjoy being able to mix and match, chop and change and re-create myself every single day.

Love Immy xxx
